  • Why did you create this?
    • The best answer is given on the about page or this blog post
  • How does it work?
    • Kids use the app installed on a tablet, old phone, or device or they can use the software from a computer in a modern web browser. When they send a message, it sends a text message to the parent’s phone number. When a parent responds it sends the message back to the kids.
  • Can anyone who wants send a message to my child?
    • No, only approved adults you’ve added as parent accounts can send a message to your kids. All others receive an error.
  • Can my kid send messages to any number?
    • No, kids can only message parents or kids who have been setup on their account by a parent on the account.
  • How do I add more kids?
    • Kids can be added from the “Add New…” > “Child” menu inside your account. You can also click the “+ Add New Child” button from the home screen. You must be logged in as a parent to add more kids.
  • How do I add additional Parents?
    • Parents can be added from the”Add New…” > “Parent” link inside your account. You can also click the “+ Add New Parent” button from the home screen. You can see this blog post for more details. You must be logged in as a parent to add more parents.
  • Will it work on an iPhone or Android?
    • Because we send messages as SMS (text messages), parents can have iPhones or Android phones and communicate with their kids. We currently have an Amazon app, an Android app, and an iPhone app.
  • Can my kids text from a computer?
    • Yes! Your kids don’t need a tablet or other device. In fact, at first, my kids used only the computer interface to send messages because we didn’t have a tablet for them. All you need is a modern web browser and access to the internet.
  • How can I get a free access to test the service?
    • In order to let you try KidText.me and see if it fits your needs, we offer a 10-day trial period for every new account – all features included.
  • I forgot/lost my password. How do I reset it?
    • You can reset your password by clicking on the forgot password link on the login page or by clicking here.
  • My child forgot their password. How do I reset it?
    • Because we don’t require an email for child accounts, we can’t just send a password reset link. You can reset their password from within a parent account here by visiting “Your Account” page or right from the home screen.
  • How much does it cost?
    • Our only plan right now is $2.99/month for all of your kids. This may change in the future.
  • Why does it cost money?
    • There are actual costs associated with hosting the app as well as sending text messages — we are charged for each message we send. Because of that we’ve created a model that we believe will support the business long term while being a good value for the families who use it.
  • Couldn’t you just have ads?
    • We have avoided putting ads in the app because we don’t have control over the content in the ads and we want it to be safe for kids. (See this post for more info.)
  • Does it bill automatically?
    • Your subscription is billed month-to-month in advance. It will automatically renew at the beginning of the next month unless you cancel on your account page.
  • How can I update my credit card information?
    • Log in to your KidText.me parent account and click on your name in the top right and head to the “my account” link.
  • What payment methods & currencies can I use?
    • Subscriptions are available by credit card. You will be billed in US Dollars [USD].
  • How can I cancel my subscription?
    • Log in to your KidText.me parent account and go to the “my account” page (after clicking on your name). Select the “cancel subscription” link.
